In Other News....

14,000 children died today in what was one of the worst humanitarian crises since yesterday when 14,000 children died in a similar humanitarian crisis and is expected to continue tomorrow when 14,000 children will die of hunger related illnesses that have been linked directly to hunger which is curable in all cases by food which is thrown away by first world nations at a rate of 14,000 children a day.

What the hell is wrong with us!!!!?????

Oh yeah...not our kids...

But hey....we gave up chocolate for Lent.

God must be pleased at our sacrifice.

Whatever you have not done for the least of these...

  2. Wow what a voice and potent song. That image haunts me. It's almost the perfect commentary on the distance between the 1st and third worlds when it comes to consumption and waste.

  3. yeah i love the arrows, and i love what they stand for. I got to see them in concert recently. that vid is so graphic, its like a wakeup call. Of all images I've seen showing the state of the world, that may be the most powerful.

  4. Yeah. I think the one at the end of this blog post http://aconspiracyofhope.blogspot.com/2010/12/hunger-and-human-trafficking.html from the Conspiracy Of Hope blog and the one with the vultures along with the one in the Arrows video will always haunt me. They keep my heart in knots.

  6. We are afraid. So desperately afraid of going without, of losing our security, of losing our life of ease. We have been so blessed and we have been so selfish.

  9. I wish I knew firsthand what poverty was. Maybe then I could find the motivation to deny the pleasures of this world. If I knew what it was to have only God. I always wonder why God has given me so much. It means I have that much more responsibility but I am not so faithful with it.

  10. Well said Annabelle. The reason we've been given so much is to express the Love of God for the impoverished by giving of our abundance, filling their lack, and giving God all the glory.
